Micron Filters
A micron filter is a specific type of filtration that separates particles in a liquid or gas by the size of the particle (microns). Micron filters can have a wide range of applications, but commonly seen in the pharmaceutical, food processing, water treatment and chemical manufacturing industries. Micron filters remove contaminants down to .1 microns, thus ensuring consistency, purity and safety in the product and the process. Micron filters can be found in many different designs that are suited for different flow rates, pressures and levels of filtration, including cartridge filters (including string wound and depth), bag filters, disc filters, and membrane filters. Most are made from materials, including polypropylene, stainless steel, or PTFE, that provide excellent chemical resistance, superior thermal stability, and durability. Micron filters are available in a range of micron ratings defined as the minimum particle size removed. Low micron ratings are designed for ultra-fine filter applications, while higher micron ratings work well for coarse separating. Micron filters are typically found in a workflow as a pre-filter, final polishing, or sterile processing tool. They are vitally important to keeping operational efficiency and compliance.
